The Archdiocese for the Military Services (AMS) this year will host its first Catholic Military Conference over Veterans Day weekend, bringing together service members, military spouses, and chaplains for spiritual renewal, fellowship, and formation.
Scheduled for Nov. 9-11, the conference is centered on the theme “Living and Serving Justly” and will focus on helping attendees deepen their identities as disciples of Christ, according to a May 22 AMS press release.
AMS Archbishop Timothy Broglio announced in the release that the conference, rooted in the Church’s pastoral care for those who serve, will help attendees learn how to authentically serve God and neighbor as Catholic disciples of Jesus while living out their vocations in military life.
Attendees will also hear keynote addresses and participate in breakout sessions reflecting on the spiritual and moral dimensions of military service, including the Church’s Just War teaching.
The conference will also include daily Mass, Eucharistic adoration, Confession, and time for prayer and reflection.
The conference follows a record attendance discernment retreat for prospective U.S. military chaplains hosted by the AMS earlier this year, where 38 men explored the vocation of serving as priests and military chaplains, as Zeale News previously reported.
Civilian Catholics who feel called to support those who serve are also encouraged to attend the conference.
