CatholicVote President and CEO Kelsey Reinhardt will take part this month in America Reads the Bible, a week-long event in Washington, D.C. highlighting Scripture’s role in the broader “American story” as the U.S. approaches its 250th birthday.
Nearly 500 Christian leaders are expected to participate at the nation’s capitol for the event, which will be held at the Museum of the Bible and feature readings from Genesis through Revelation under the theme “One Week. One Nation. One Book.”
Reinhardt will contribute a pre-recorded reading of Numbers 23-25, which will be broadcast April 20 from 9 a.m. - 10 a.m. EST. Those who wish to virtually attend the event can register online and view the livestream, which is provided by Great American Pure Flix.
As Zeale News previously reported, the event seeks to foster prayer and public engagement, calling the nation back to its spiritual roots.
Bunnie Pounds, founder and president of Christian Engaged, a group that promotes prayer and civic involvement, organized the event to encourage discipleship and a return to the nation’s spiritual heritage.
"When America honored Scripture, we flourished,” Pounds said in a March 26 press release. “When we sidelined it, we lost our way. No policy can ultimately address the condition of the human heart. This is an invitation to return to something deeper."
Other speakers include actress Patricia Heaton, actor David Hunt, U.S. Ambassador to Israel Mike Huckabee, actor Nathan Gamble, and U.S. Secretary of Agriculture Brooke Rollins, according to the event’s website.
