The Apostolic Penitentiary has granted a plenary indulgence for the Centennial Jubilee Year at St. Mary’s Cathedral in Portland, Oregon, granting special graces to those who participate through Feb. 13, 2027.
The Archdiocese of Portland announced Feb. 26 that Monsignor Gerard O’Connor received the decree at the mandate of Pope Leo XIV. Msgr. O’Connor is the rector of St. Mary’s Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception.
The Holy Father has also authorized Archbishop Alexander Sample to impart the Papal Blessing, which carries a plenary indulgence, following a celebration of the Mass on the date of his choosing. The blessing will be conferred June 7 after the 2 p.m. Solemn Mass and prior to the consecration of the archdiocese to the Sacred Heart of Jesus.
According to the decree, the faithful may obtain the indulgence by making a pilgrimage and taking part in jubilee rites, or by praying for peace, unity, and the protection from present-day errors, concluding with the Our Father, the Creed, and invocations to Our Lady, Queen of Peace and Mother of Mercy.
The indulgence may also be applied to the souls in purgatory when the faithful complete the devotional conditions.
