Ahead of the International Day of the Unborn Child, the Archdiocese of San Francisco is hosting a March 24 lunchtime Rosary in prayer for unborn children and the protection of life in the womb.
According to the archdiocese, the virtual gathering will include the praying of the rosary and reflections on St. Pope John Paul II’s encyclical Evangelium vitae, ‘The Gospel of Life,’ in which he strongly defends the dignity of human life from conception to natural death.
The event will take place virtually at 1 p.m. and is an invitation for participants to pray for the protection of the sanctity of human life.
Ryan Mayer, the archdiocese’s director of the Office of Catholic Identity Assessment and Formation, will be a guest speaker.
The International Day of the Unborn Child is observed March 25, the solemnity of the Annunciation of the Lord and the date St. John Paul II published his encyclical Evangelium vitae in 1995. According to the archdiocese, the observance was established with strong support from the late pope.
