Memory keeping
Camp Snap camera
This camera brings back the delight of a film camera and waiting to see an image after it is photographed and combines it with the ease of a digital camera. Perfect for any age, it helps the photographer remain in the moment without the temptation to flip through pictures on the camera screen. Once you’re ready to view the images, simply connect a USB-C cable to your computer and save your pictures digitally or send them off for print.
It uses an 8-megapixel sensor and a fixed-focus lens to give a good but intentionally vintage image quality. Photographers can add filters to the camera to add creativity to their pictures. Camp Snap also has a screenless video camera and other models of cameras to choose from. This camera is at the top of my Christmas list.

Nothing says nostalgia quite like an instant analog camera. Simply point and shoot and a photograph is printed right away. With an abundance of styles and options, these cameras are a great option for capturing memories sans screens.
Storytime with an audio player
Yoto
The Yoto is the MVP of our household for long car trips, cozy time, and dance parties. Choose either a Yoto Player or a Yoto mini and your children can independently use preloaded audio cards and listen to quality audio content without having to navigate a screen, listen to ads, or have access to the internet.
Between a vast library of Yoto cards for purchase and Make Your Own cards to sync up already owned audiobooks, free Librivox content, and music, the Yoto has endless potential for storytelling fun.
Toniebox
Similar to the Yoto, but geared toward the younger set, the Toniebox is a screen free story player that uses small figurines to play audio and music. The newest version has bedtime and wake-up features, and is easy to take on the go.
Little Tikes Story Dream Machine
Let your little ones experience story time with an old fashioned projector that displays images and text of their story onto the wall. To play a story simply place a figurine on the top of the machine and the stories will be brought to life before their eyes.
Keep in touch with a landline
Tin Can
Landline phones are making a comeback, and rightly so. With a TinCan phone in the house, children can get in touch with their friends but be protected from spam and only receive calls from an approved pre-set call list. The phone is wi-fi connected and the call list is controlled by an app. Parents can even rest assured that their children have the ability to make emergency calls and can set rest hours.
MyPhone by Ooma
Similar to the Tin Can, the My Phone is wifi-based and allows parents to limit who calls the line. It’s retro look is fun and they allow multiple lines to merge, bringing back some old school fun.
Have a jam session with music players
Mighty
The Mighty music player syncs with Amazon music (both Prime and Unlimited) for easy, screen free listening without the scrolling. It’s a reimagined iPod shuffle and doesn’t require any internet connection. The Mighty requires headphones or an external speaker. Small enough to clip onto shirts and backpacks, it’s great for long runs and bus rides to school.
NodiFlip
The NodiFlip is Spotify compatible so listening to music is a breeze for anyone with a Spotify plan. It has no open internet access and an added feature is the ability to send and receive voice messages between NodiFlip devices. It’s colorful, compact, and has a small, no-touch screen to show the album and song name. The NodiFlip has a speaker so listening to music as a group is possible. This gadget isn’t on the market yet, but will be soon!
mP3 Player
If you don’t want to rely on Amazon music or Spotify, bring it back to the turn of the 21st century and listen to music and audiobooks with a traditional mP3 player. With no touch screen and the ability to upload hours of listening content, this is a great on the go gadget for music and audiobooks alike.
