Trump touts Republican wins at GOP convention
The President reminded voters that his administration’s victories would not have been possible without a Republican Congress.
Appearing alongside Republican candidates and incumbents Sept. 9 at the Republican National Committee’s (RNC’s) midterm convention in Dallas, President Donald Trump delivered a speech to energize voters and motivate the GOP base to vote in November’s midterm elections.
“Pretend that I am on the ballot,” Trump said to attendees. “The midterms are not supposed to be won by the sitting president. We are going to change that.”
The President touted his administration’s wins over the past 20 months, like closing the southern border, bolstering American energy independence, delivering tax cuts in the One Big Beautiful Bill, and opening up more jobs for American workers. He encouraged voters to support his agenda by electing Republican majorities in the U.S. House of Representatives and U.S. Senate this year.

Trump further unveiled plans to introduce legislation making it illegal for future presidents to “open the border” via executive action. The legislation would be entitled the “No Invasion of Our Country Act.”
“We will make it legally impossible for any future president to destroy our country by having the right to open the border again,” the President said.
He also took a swipe at James Talarico, Texas’ Democratic nominee for the U.S. Senate, encouraging voters to instead support Talarico’s Republican opponent, Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton.
“I’ll be coming back to Texas, because we have to elect Ken Paxton,” Trump said, pledging to campaign for the Republican Senate nominee. “If I have to, I’ll come back twice or three times. You’ll say, ‘Get this guy out of here!’”
The President added, “In the history of Texas, he is the single greatest attorney general you’ve ever had, and maybe the top attorney general in the whole United States.”
The Trump-aligned MAGA, Inc. PAC has already spent $10 million on ads in the Texas race, half supporting Paxton and half opposing Talarico. According to journalist Mark Halperin, tech billionaire and former Trump administration advisor Elon Musk and his America PAC are preparing to spend anywhere from $50 million to $200 million in Texas.
