The U.S. bishops will consecrate our nation to the Sacred Heart of Jesus this June for America’s 250th anniversary. Catholics can spiritually join in through the First Friday devotion.
- Receive Communion on the first Friday of each month
- Offer the reception of the Eucharist in a spirit of reparation
- Repeat for nine consecutive months
Answer the call to pray for our nation this First Friday. Make reparation to the Sacred Heart for our sins—and join thousands of Catholics preparing for the America 250 consecration through Zeale.
Did you know that Saint Margaret Mary Alacoque is the reason why the Catholic Church has such deep devotion to the Sacred Heart?
Saint Margaret Mary was a nun of the Visitation order, living a life of simplicity and humility, until the Lord entrusted her with a mission that would shape Catholic devotion for centuries.
Between 1673 and 1675, Saint Margaret Mary received a series of visions of Jesus revealing His Sacred Heart that was "on fire with love, pierced, bleeding, and crowned with thorns."
In His appearances, Christ asked for acts of reparation and love, especially that the faithful would receive Holy Communion on the first Friday of every month. He promised great spiritual treasures to those who would answer this call — not only for themselves, but for the world. This became known as the First Friday Devotion.
The Bishops will consecrate the nation, but Catholics must show up and do their part to further devotion to the Sacred Heart. Catholics, fill the pews this First Friday.
