Today the Church honors Saint Charles Lwanga and his companions. Charles protected the young servants of Buganda from their king’s homosexual advances. The king eventually ordered Charles and the boys whose innocence he had defended – some as young as 13 – to be put to death. Charles was martyred by burning at the stake in 1886 at the age of 26. He continued to pray as the flames consumed him.

THE ROSARY PRIEST
On June 15, 1941, the newly ordained Fr. Patrick Peyton knew he had to honor a bargain he had made 13 years prior. Peyton had been struck by advanced tuberculosis and had told the Blessed Mother that if he was healed he would devote his life to promoting peace through the Rosary.
