POPE LEO DENOUNCES 'BARBARISM' OF ISRAELI ATTACKS
In his July 20 Angelus address from Castel Gandolfo, Pope Leo delivered one of his strongest condemnations yet of the war in Gaza, denouncing the violence as “barbarism” and calling Israel’s July 17 attack on the Holy Family Catholic Parish just one of "the continuous military attacks against the civilian population and places of worship in Gaza.”

Ambassador to Israel Mike Huckabee visited Taybeh, the last all-Christian town in the Holy Land, after radical Jewish settlers nearly destroyed the 5th-century Church of St. George by setting a fire nearby. Huckabee condemned it as "an act of terror" and "a crime" in a statement. "There should be consequences, and it should be harsh consequences because it is one of the last bastions of our civilization, the places where we worship."

THE RECYCLED BASILICA
Father Wilhelm Grutza, a Pastor in Milwaukee during the late 1800s to early 1900s, was responsible for building the first and only recycled basilica in America. After realizing his parish was outgrowing their church, Fr. Wilhelm began plans to build a new and bigger church out of recycled materials from the city.
