Iran experienced a near-total nationwide internet blackout Jan. 8, according to internet monitoring groups, as authorities moved to contain widespread protests fueled by economic collapse and anger at the Islamic Republic. Hours later, President Donald Trump renewed warnings that the U.S. could strike Iran if authorities begin killing protestors.
SYRIAN CHRISTIANS UNDER IMMEDIATE THREAT
A humanitarian crisis is unfolding in Aleppo — home to one of Syria’s largest Christian populations — as violent clashes intensify between the Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) and government troops loyal to Damascus. Aid to the Church in Need sounded the alarm this week, warning that Christian families now find themselves trapped on the front lines of the conflict, unable to leave their homes.
TRUMP FBI TAKES OVER ICE SHOOTING INVESTIGATION
The Trump administration’s FBI has assumed full control of the investigation into the fatal shooting of 37-year-old Renee Nicole Good by a U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agent in Minneapolis. State investigators were initially assigned to conduct a joint probe with the FBI, but then the local investigation was cut out.

"A disturbing trend has begun to surface on X, the social media platform formerly known as Twitter," reports Mary Rose for CatholicVote. "Users discovered that Grok, an artificial intelligence (AI) chatbot embedded into the platform, could be prompted to alter real photographs of women — digitally changing their clothing or poses in overtly sexualized ways, without the subject’s knowledge or consent."
