As unrest continues in Minneapolis following a Saturday fatal shooting involving U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents, Archbishop Paul Coakley, president of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB), issued a call for “calm, restraint, and respect for human life.”
DEBATE RAGES OVER SHOOTING OF MINNEAPOLIS NURSE
Administration officials claim an ICE agent's killing of a concealed-carry permit holder in Minneapolis Saturday was another justified defensive shooting. "Footage of the incident shows an agent disarmed Pretti shortly before he was killed," Fox News reports. "He entered into the initial scuffle with agents as he tried to assist another protester who had been pushed by law enforcement."

A government shutdown now looms again as a key negotiator, Maine’s independent Sen. Angus King, refuses to back a Department of Homeland Security funding bill that makes up part of the six-bill funding package. King over the weekend decided against cooperating with the package in reaction to the ICE shooting in Minneapolis.
