NATS FIRE PR EXEC AFTER CATHOLIC BACKLASH

The Washington Nationals fired director of community relations Sean Hudson after was caught on camera telling an undercover journalist that the team excluded pitcher Trevor Williams from certain social media content because of the player's Catholic faith. CatholicVote, which had confronted the team over the scandal, said the firing is a victory — but leaves serious questions still unanswered.

LOUISIANA SENATE APPROVES NEW MAP

Louisiana lawmakers yesterday gave final approval to a new Republican-backed congressional map that would reduce the number of majority-black districts in the state from two to one, a change that would likely give the GOP another seat in the U.S. House. The legislation now heads to Republican Gov. Jeff Landry, who is expected to sign it into law.

GOP LAWMAKERS PUSH TO END PRO-ABORTION WORKPLACE RULES

Fifty Republican lawmakers filed an amicus brief this week urging a federal appeals court to block Biden-era rules that would force employers, including religious groups, to accommodate abortions. The rule is an outgrowth of the Pregnant Workers Fairness Act, which CatholicVote warned would lead to pro-abortion measures when the bill was being debated.
