A U.S. Army captain was recently sentenced to 12 years in prison after pleading guilty to intentionally killing his preborn child by placing an abortion pill into a pregnant soldier's drink without her consent.

Capt. Brandon Jones-Adams admitted to secretly placing the abortion drug mifepristone in the drink of his pregnant then-girlfriend, an enlisted junior soldier, causing her to miscarry at 13 weeks gestation, according to The Center Square.

According to a June 26 press release from the U.S. Army, the Department of the Army Criminal Investigation Division launched an investigation after being notified of the incident.

Following his June 24 court-martial, Jones-Adams pleaded guilty to intentionally killing an unborn child, domestic violence, fraternization, and conduct unbecoming an officer, according to a June 29 press release from Susan B. Anthony Pro-Life America. The court-martial proceedings took place at the Cascade Court Complex at Joint Base Lewis-McChord near Tacoma, Washington.

After the victim finished a drink Jones-Adams had poured for her in August 2025, she noticed residue in her cup and "immediately suspected" she had been drugged. After experiencing what the release described as severe cramping, the victim sought treatment at a military emergency room, where she later miscarried.

The division concluded that Jones-Adams purchased the drug online under a fake name after multiple attempts to acquire the drug from various online vendors, according to The Center Square.

As Zeale News previously reported, chemical abortions now account for the majority of abortions nationwide following the FDA's elimination of the in-person dispensing requirement for mifepristone.

According to the U.S. Army’s release, Jones-Adams will begin his confinement at the Northwestern Joint Regional Correctional Facility at the Joint Base Lewis-McChord and will be transferred to the U.S. Disciplinary Barracks at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas.

Jones-Adams received the maximum penalty of 12 years in prison under his plea agreement and was given a dismissal from the Army.
