Hillsdale College this week released a new edition of its K-12 American history and civics curriculum, outlining what the college describes as the “enduring ideas” of a “cohesive American story.”
The curriculum is part of a broader initiative aimed at promoting “common-sense reform and the highest standards of excellence,” Kathleen O’Toole, associate vice president for K-12 education at Hillsdale, said in a March 31 X post.
Tomorrow, we launch the new edition of Hillsdale's American History and Civics Curriculum.

The curriculum is now available for immediate download, as part of America’s upcoming 250th birthday, according to O’Toole. Provided at no cost to affiliated schools, the curriculum will also supply instructional materials, teacher training, and implementation guidance to participating schools, O’Toole noted.
The curriculum includes complete courses for middle and high school students, primary sources, and classroom materials such as assignments, activities, and assessments, according to Hillsdale’s website.
The new curriculum also traces American history from the founding period through major developments including the Civil War, industrialization, the world wars, and recent history.
