Vice President JD Vance said he believes what many people describe as “aliens” are actually demons, framing extraterrestrial phenomena as supernatural evil rather than the activity of visitors from another planet.
“I don’t think they’re aliens. I think they’re demons,” Vance said in a March 27 podcast interview with conservative commentator Benny Johnson.

“Every great world religion, including Christianity – the one that I believe in – has understood that there are weird things out there, and there are things that are very difficult to explain,” Vance said.
The vice president, a Catholic, added that when he hears about “sort of extra-natural phenomena,” he naturally goes “to the Christian understanding that there’s a lot of good out there, but there’s also some evil out there. And I think that one of the devil’s great tricks is to convince people he never existed.”
During the interview, Vance also discussed his longstanding interest in declassifying files related to unidentified flying objects (UFOs). He said that the Trump administration is working on releasing the files and that he intends to “get to the bottom of the UFO files” before his vice presidency ends.
“We’re working on it,” he said of releasing the files. “It’s funny – when I came in, I was obsessed with the UFO files, and then you start getting really busy worrying about the economy and national security and things like that. But I’ve still got three more years as vice president.”
President Donald Trump said on Truth Social in February that he would direct the Pentagon and other federal agencies to begin identifying and releasing government files related to “alien and extraterrestrial life, unidentified aerial phenomena (UAP), and unidentified flying objects (UFOs).” His comments came shortly after former President Barack Obama said on a podcast that aliens “are real” but “they’re not being kept in Area 51.”
