A new presidential library honoring Theodore Roosevelt will open July 4 in Medora, North Dakota, offering visitors an immersive experience exploring the life, leadership, and legacy of the nation's 26th president.

According to the Theodore Roosevelt Presidential Library, the museum is designed to allow visitors to "step directly" into Roosevelt's story through exhibits and outdoor spaces that connect his legacy to the surrounding landscape in what it describes as an experience "like no other."

The library combines interactive storytelling, multimedia exhibits, and outdoor exploration. Highlights include galleries tracing Roosevelt's life, a recreation of his Elkhorn Ranch cabin, and "Campfire," an artificial intelligence guide that uses Roosevelt's letters, speeches, and photographs from 18 institutions to answer visitors' questions, according to the website.

The grand opening follows a July 1 visit by President Donald Trump, who toured the library and later delivered remarks at the Burning Hills Amphitheatre, where, according to FOX News, he described Roosevelt as “true American hero.”

The library overlooks the Little Missouri River in the North Dakota Badlands, where Roosevelt spent time ranching after the deaths of his wife and mother in 1884. According to the library, Roosevelt later credited the region with helping shape the leader he became.

Organizers said the project was designed to "work with” nature, adding that the building blends into the surrounding landscape and features a walkable earthen roof overlooking the Badlands and the area surrounding Roosevelt's ranch.

The library’s grand opening will conclude with "Eyes on the Stars: Theodore Roosevelt and the American West," a drone show featuring 1,776 drones over the Badlands.
