The Archdiocese for the Military Services, USA, will host its 32nd annual Memorial Mass May 17 at the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception in Washington, D.C.
According to the archdiocese, Archbishop Timothy Broglio will celebrate the Mass honoring members of the United States Armed Forces, especially those who died in military service.
The annual Memorial Mass will begin at 4:30 p.m. with the posting of the colors and the singing of the national anthem and conclude with the playing of Taps, according to the shrine’s website.
Before Mass, the faithful will also have the opportunity to receive the Sacrament of Penance and pray the Rosary and Vespers together.
In his homily during the 2025 Memorial Mass, Archbishop Broglio reflected on the sacrifice of fallen service members and encouraged fellow servicemembers to “draw strength” from their comrades’ devotion to the nation.
Archbishop Broglio said servicemembers should seek to “imitate their devotion to comrades at arms and to the great virtues on which our Nation is built.”
