In anticipation of Mother’s Day, the Charlotte Lozier Institute (CLI), a pro-life research group, has launched an updated version of its interactive pregnancy guide, offering parents a science-based look at prenatal development from conception to birth.
CLI announced May 7 the release of the revised “Voyage of Life” (VoL), a baby development guide website that now includes updated, peer-reviewed research and expanded prenatal imagery. According to the organization, the guide features 50 high-definition images of fetal development that show mothers what their child looks like at various stages of pregnancy.
The guide now also has a pregnancy calculator that helps women track developmental milestones and estimate how far along they are in their pregnancy by entering basic information.
VoL was first launched in 2021 to provide a science-based, pro-life response to Planned Parenthood’s "Pregnancy: Month by Month” page, which CLI says focuses primarily on the negative symptoms of pregnancy while omitting scientific details about prenatal development.
Katrina Furth, CLI associate scholar and lead researcher for VoL, said the update helps people better understand the “breathtaking complexity” and vulnerability of life before birth.
“As people come to understand how early the unborn baby is drawn to faces, capable of feeling, and moving in response to touch, they will see the humanity of the unborn and start giving the youngest among us the protection that they deserve,” Furth said.
CLI Executive Director Karen Czarnecki said the organization strives to confront Planned Parenthood’s “blatant denial” of the humanity of the pre-born and allow people to see firsthand the reality of prenatal development.
“These updates to Voyage of Life,” Czarnecki said, “reflect what science continues to confirm — that from the earliest weeks of development, a distinct human life is present.”
