An abortion facility in Greensboro, North Carolina, is closing April 30 after a decade of providing surgical abortions, according to the facility’s website.
The facility had previously been described as “the busiest abortion clinic in the Triad,” according to a recent X post from Love Life USA, a national pro-life organization.
A Woman’s Choice, Inc.’s Greensboro location stopped providing abortions March 31 and is sending those seeking abortions to its other facilities in neighboring cities.
Local pro-life advocates say the closure follows years of prayer and outreach outside the facility.
Amy Hord, director of engagement for Triad Pregnancy Care, a local organization assisting pregnant women in crisis, told Zeale News the closure represents a "significant moment in our community,” stating that her response is one of “prayer and hope.”
Hord said she spent years outside the clinic, not in protest, but “to accompany — to be a witness to the dignity of every human life,” adding that her presence focused on ensuring women knew “they are seen, loved, and not alone.”
She also said the closure highlights a broader role for the Church in supporting women and families.
“This moment is not about victory,” Hord told Zeale News, “but about invitation — an invitation for the Church to be what it is called to be: a place of safety, truth, and compassionate love.”
She added that her presence at the facility was rooted in her own story.
“After experiencing abortion and the deep wounds it left, I felt called to share not only the reality of that pain, but also the healing and mercy I have found,” she said. “God’s grace meets us even in our brokenness, and restoration is always possible."
Hord added that Triad Pregnancy Care aims to “walk with women and families,” offering support grounded in the belief in the dignity of both mother and child.
