President Donald Trump announced Sept. 17 that he will designate Antifa a “major terrorist organization” and warned he will recommend investigations into anyone funding the far-left movement.
“I am pleased to inform our many U.S.A. Patriots that I am designating ANTIFA, A SICK, DANGEROUS, RADICAL LEFT DISASTER, AS A MAJOR TERRORIST ORGANIZATION,” Trump wrote on Truth Social. “I will also be strongly recommending that those funding ANTIFA be thoroughly investigated in accordance with the highest legal standards and practices.”

Two days earlier, Trump told reporters in the Oval Office that he would “100%” take the step if he “had support from the people,” when asked about rising political violence and Charlie Kirk’s assassination, CatholicVote reported.

“Antifa is terrible,” Trump said at the time, later adding, “These aren’t protests. These are crimes, what they’re doing.”
According to FOX News, Antifa — short for “anti-fascist” — is a decentralized movement without formal membership that claims to oppose fascism and white supremacy.
