Monday of the Eighteenth Week in Ordinary Time – Year A
Lord, teach me your statutes.
First ReadingJeremiah 28:1-17
In that same year, at the beginning of the reign of Zedeki′ah king of Judah, in the fifth month of the fourth year, Hanani′ah the son of Azzur, the prophet from Gib′eon, spoke to me in the house of the Lord, in the presence of the priests and all the people, saying, “Thus says the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel: I have broken the yoke of the king of Babylon. Within two years I will bring back to this place all the vessels of the Lord’s house, which Nebuchadnez′zar king of Babylon took away from this place and carried to Babylon. I will also bring back to this place Jeconi′ah the son of Jehoi′akim, king of Judah, and all the exiles from Judah who went to Babylon, says the Lord, for I will break the yoke of the king of Babylon.”
Then the prophet Jere mi′ah spoke to Hanani′ah the prophet in the presence of the priests and all the people who were standing in the house of the Lord; and the prophet Jeremi′ah said, “Amen! May the Lord do so; may the Lord make the words which you have prophesied come true, and bring back to this place from Babylon the vessels of the house of the Lord, and all the exiles. Yet hear now this word which I speak in your hearing and in the hearing of all the people.
Responsorial PsalmPsalm 119:29, 43, 79, 80, 95, 102
℟Lord, teach me your statutes.
Put false ways far from me; and graciously teach me your law!
℟Lord, teach me your statutes.
And take not the word of truth utterly out of my mouth, for my hope is in your ordinances.
℟Lord, teach me your statutes.
Let those who fear you turn to me, that they may know your testimonies.
℟Lord, teach me your statutes.
May my heart be blameless in your statutes, that I may not be put to shame!
℟Lord, teach me your statutes.
The wicked lie in wait to destroy me; but I consider your testimonies.
℟Lord, teach me your statutes.
I do not turn aside from your ordinances, for you have taught me.
℟Lord, teach me your statutes.

GospelMatthew 14:22-36
Then he made the disciples get into the boat and go before him to the other side, while he dismissed the crowds. And after he had dismissed the crowds, he went up into the hills by himself to pray. When evening came, he was there alone, but the boat by this time was many furlongs distant from the land, m beaten by the waves; for the wind was against them. And in the fourth watch of the night he came to them, walking on the sea. But when the disciples saw him walking on the sea, they were terrified, saying, “It is a ghost!” And they cried out for fear. But immediately he spoke to them, saying, “Take heart, it is I; have no fear.” And Peter answered him, “Lord, if it is you, bid me come to you on the water.” He said, “Come.” So Peter got out of the boat and walked on the water and came to Jesus; but when he saw the wind, he was afraid, and beginning to sink he cried out, “Lord, save me.” Jesus immediately reached out his hand and caught him, saying to him, “O you of little faith, why did you doubt?” And when they got into the boat, the wind ceased. And those in the boat worshiped him, saying, “Truly you are the Son of God.”
And when they had crossed over, they came to land at Gennes′aret. And when the men of that place recognized him, they sent round to all that region and brought to him all that were sick, and begged him that they might only touch the fringe of his garment; and as many as touched it were made well.
