A Catholic Church in Arlington, Texas, caught fire June 16 prompting a two-alarm response from firefighters, according to multiple reports.
WFAA News, an ABC affiliate, reported that emergency personnel arrived at St. Matthew's Catholic Church around 1:50 p.m. after reports of a fire.
Firefighters arriving at the scene observed smoke coming from the roof and requested a second alarm due to the size and occupancy of the church. The Fort Worth Star-Telegram reported that hot weather conditions also prompted officials to call for additional crews.
Church staff told firefighters the building had already been evacuated before crews arrived. Firefighters later confirmed all occupants were accounted for, according to WFAA News.
The fire was located on the roof and brought under control in about 15 minutes. Firefighters also worked to protect office equipment and other property from water and smoke damage beneath the roof, according to WFAA News.
No injuries were reported. According to Arlington Fire Department officials, the damage was limited to the church roof.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
Parish officials told WFAA News that the diocese instructed them not to use the church building until further notice. Daily Mass scheduled for June 17 was canceled, along with parish office operations and catechism registration.
