Fulton Sheen Foundation unveils pre-beatification speaker lineup
The Sept. 24 program will bring Catholic leaders, authors, and artists to St. Louis for prayer, reflection, and music ahead of Ven. Sheen’s beatification Mass.
The Archbishop Fulton J. Sheen Foundation on July 28 announced the initial lineup for a pre-beatification program ahead of Venerable Fulton Sheen’s Sept. 24 beatification Mass in St. Louis.
Cardinal Timothy Dolan, archbishop emeritus of New York, and Msgr. Roger Landry, national director of the Pontifical Mission Societies in the United States, are among those scheduled to participate.
The program will also feature Catholic author and speaker Katie Prejean McGrady; mental health counselor and author Sister Josephine Garrett; and Catholic singer and songwriter Matt Maher.
Beginning at 10 a.m. at The Dome at America’s Center, the program will offer reflections, prayer, and music as part of what the foundation described as “a full day of worship, inspiration, and joyful celebration” centered on Ven. Sheen’s life and witness.
The beatification Mass will follow at 2 p.m. Both events will be broadcast and livestreamed.
As Zeale News previously reported, the Holy See allowed Sheen’s beatification to proceed this year after formally recognizing his “life of heroic virtue” following a years-long delay from when Pope Francis approved a miracle attributed to Ven. Sheen’s intercession..
Ven. Sheen became one of the most recognizable Catholic figures in the U.S. through his preaching and writing and his Emmy Award-winning television program, “Life Is Worth Living,” which brought Catholic teaching into millions of American homes during the 1950s and 1960s.
