October 31 – St. Wolfgang

Born: Around 934

Died: 994

Nationality: German

Vocation: Bishop, Monk, and Missionary

Canonized: 1052 by Pope Leo IX

St. Wolfgang helped bring new life to the Church during the Middle Ages through his dedication to teaching, missionary work, and religious reform. Throughout his ministry, he remained deeply devoted to prayer and encouraged others to live their faith with humility and love.

Born in Germany around 934, Wolfgang studied under Benedictine monks and later became a teacher. He eventually entered the Benedictine order and was ordained a priest before traveling to Hungary to share the Gospel.

Wolfgang later became bishop of Regensburg, where he worked to strengthen religious communities and encourage the faithful to grow closer to Christ. Despite his responsibilities as bishop, he continued wearing his monk’s habit and living a simple life centered on prayer.

The life of St. Wolfgang shows how prayer and humility can guide us in serving God and others. His example encourages us to remain faithful in our responsibilities and seek opportunities to share Christ's love each day.

St. Wolfgang, pray for us!
