Catholic U.S. Army members stationed in Europe had the opportunity for spiritual rest and reflection this month at a retreat in Germany.
The 2026 annual men’s retreat for U.S. Army members stationed in Europe was one of the largest in the organizer's memory, with 54 servicemen, defense contractors, and family members in attendance, according to a Feb. 11 Archdiocese for the Military Services, USA (AMS) press release.
The retreat, which took place Feb. 5-8 in Vallendar, Germany, focused on the theme of the Holy Spirit. It was held in Schoenstatt Retreat Center, a Marian pilgrimage site on the Rhine River, and was sponsored by AMS.
Attendees came from across Germany and from the U.S. Army Garrison in Vicenza, Italy.
David Puzicha-Dunn, a retired American soldier, Fourth Degree Knight of Columbus, and liturgical songwriter, organized the retreat, as he has done for 16 years. The retreat featured speakers, group discussions, Mass, Eucharistic adoration, the Rosary, and opportunities for Confession.
AMS Auxiliary Bishop William Muhm attended the event, and he gave thanks for the largeturnout, according to AMS.
Next year’s retreat will take place Feb. 4-7, 2027. Those interested in attending can find out more at AMS’ website or by subscribing to its email list.
