The world today sometimes tries to tell us that being pure means being fragile, like a piece of glass that shatters if you handle it roughly.

Mary proves that purity is actually the ultimate strength. Which brings us to one of the biggest lessons for us today. We live in a world that is completely obsessed with feelings. If we feel mad, we yell. If we feel sad, we quit. We treat our feelings like they are the ultimate authority over our lives. But Mary's heart is a major corrective to that modern habit. Her heart is incredibly deep, but it is not governed by her mood. It is governed by God.

Mary's heart is a school of perseverance. It's about having fidelity without spotlight, and obedience without applause. So, do something courageous or obedient today, without making a huge production out of it. Do your hardest homework assignment without complaining. Help out around the house without being asked. Or do the right thing, even when your friends aren't watching. Don't look for applause. Don't demand the spotlight. Practice that quiet, unbreakable strength. And when your emotions try to take over and make you panic or act on impulse today, take a breath.
