A Catholic pro-life ministry recently opened a new center near New York City, expanding access to life-affirming pregnancy care in an area its leaders say has long lacked a permanent pro-life pregnancy center, according to reports.
Pregnancy Help News reported June 11 that Gianna’s House, a pro-life ministry serving women facing unexpected pregnancies, opened its second brick-and-mortar pregnancy help facility May 13. The new Tilma Care location in Yonkers, just north of New York City, joins an existing center in Brewster and a mobile medical unit serving communities throughout the region.
The center has already begun serving women in the weeks since opening. Nicole Moore, executive director of the Yonkers location, pointed to some of its early successes, including two moms who came through their doors and chose life for their unborn babies.
Moore said the clinic aims to serve as a resource for women who are uncertain about their pregnancy and are in need of support.
“We really want to be a resource,” she said, “for those moms who aren’t sure if they’re pregnant, just found out that they’re pregnant, and [those] not sure what they want to do.”
Located in a medical office complex across the street from a local hospital that has already referred clients to the center, the new facility offers pregnancy testing, limited ultrasounds, peer counseling, and spiritual guidance, according to Pregnancy Help News.
Father Richard Gill, co-founder and CEO of Gianna's House, said the ministry had long sought to expand its presence closer to New York City, where leaders say access to permanent pro-life pregnancy support has been limited.
Pregnancy Help News reported that more than 119,500 abortions were reported statewide in New York in 2024.
According to Pregnancy Help News, the center has been well received by the local community since opening. Julie Noce, executive director of Gianna’s House, described the reception in Yonkers as “a beautiful blessing from God.”
