Trump Announces Iran Talks and The Washington Post Backs Dominican Sisters - 6/30/26

The U.S. and Iran are set to hold new talks. I'm Erika Ahern with your Morning LOOPcast. President Donald Trump says U.S. officials will meet with Iranian representatives in Doha today to discuss implementing the recent ceasefire agreement. Iran, however, says no direct meeting with the U.S. is scheduled, and insists its delegation is only meeting with Qatari and Pakistani mediators. The talks come after ...after several days of renewed fighting that tested the fragile ceasefire, including U.S. strikes on Iranian targets and Israeli strikes in Lebanon.

The Washington Post editorial board is backing the Dominican Sisters of Hawthorne in their religious liberty lawsuit against New York. The board accused state officials of legal harassment for trying to force the sisters to follow the state's gender identity rules at their Catholic nursing home, despite no compliance with the U.S. Constitution. The Justice Department has already joined the Sisters' legal challenge.
