Catholics Aren’t Buying This - 8/24/26

A Democratic governor just picked a Republican as her running mate? Arizona Governor Katie Hobbs won her first election in 2022 by a very slim margin. Since that time, Arizona seems to be trending much more red. To appeal to the state's large group of independent voters, Democrat Katie Hobbs announced Republican John Giles will be her lieutenant governor if voters give her another term this November. But Catholics in Arizona are being warned that John Giles is no longer a Republican or holds any conservative views.

For starters, John Giles calls himself pro-life, but he voted in favor of a constitutional amendment to establish a so-called right to an abortion in Arizona. John Giles also called it discrimination to prohibit boys from playing a girl's sports. And John Giles also endorsed Katie Hobbs' attempts to restrict and curtail Arizona's landmark school choice program. Catholics in Arizona are discovering that Katie Hobbs' running mate is just as liberal as she is. Meanwhile, over at The Loop, The Trump administration has proposed rules that could save taxpayers up to $2.6 billion simply by restricting refundable tax credits for illegal immigrants and other ineligible non-citizens.
