Supreme Court Justice Samuel Alito said during a wide-ranging CBS interview that he will reconsider retirement each term. He also warned that the Dobbs leak made justices “targets for assassination” and condemned efforts to intimidate the court. “The physical threats and the harassment represent something new in our society,” Alito said, “and something that’s quite disturbing.”
VIRGINIA PUBLIC MEDIA CANCELS PRO-LIFE PRESS CONFERENCE
Virginia Public Media voided a contract for a press conference with physicians opposing the state’s proposed abortion amendment, saying it had not been told the event was political. Bishop Louis Tylka of Peoria presented Pope Leo XIV with a relic of Blessed Fulton Sheen during an Oct. 5 meeting at the Vatican. Bishop Tylka called it an “especially moving moment” to place a relic of the Illinois-born Sheen into the hands of the first American pope, himself an Illinois native.
