We Remember - 9/11/26

The head of the U.S. bishops called on Catholics to be Christ's instrument of peace on this, the 25th anniversary of the 9-11 terrorist attacks. Archbishop Paul Coakley called on all Catholics to turn to prayer to remember the people who lost their lives on this day. In a special way, the archbishop said, we lovingly embrace in prayer the victim's families and friends who still mourn the irretrievable loss of their loved ones on that day. We also remember the first responders and emergency workers, so many.

...who gave their lives in selfless acts of courage. The president of the U.S. bishops said that this solemn day should be a reminder about how faith lifted us up and sustained us. He concluded, as we pray for our nation's continued healing, for the souls of all those lost on that day, and the comfort of their families, let us implore the Holy Spirit to conform us increasingly into the image of Jesus, the Prince of Peace, and together build a civilization of love and universal Meanwhile, over at The Loop, we have a report that more than 62,000 people were arrested for so-called speech crimes in the United Kingdom since 2021.

Today is the feast of St. John Gabriel Herbore, a Vincentian missionary who ministered in his home country of France before he requested to share the faith in China, where he was ultimately martyred at the age of just 38 years.
